JUDD BEMMELS holds a bachelor’s degree in Forest Sciences and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with a dissertation focused on tree biogeography. He calls coastal British Columbia home, but has also lived among the deciduous mixed woods of Ontario and Michigan, the pinelands of Georgia, and the Black Forest of Germany. He enjoys spending time outdoors, reading classic fiction and epic poems, and learning about folk tales and myths. His first book Spruce took aim with an inky spear represents the intersection of his professional and personal worlds.
